Do You Hold Questions?
We all hold questions or curiosities about life, faith and God. It's time to explore these!
Kia ora 1 fellow faith travellers!
Okay, so it has been over two months since I wrote to you all. I have just figured out why that is. I have always had a writing rule. This was never written down and I wasn’t really conscious that my writing rule existed… until today.
Here’s my writing rule —only write what you are completely certain about. If there is any doubt or grey area — run for the hills and do not under any circumstances write about it until you have researched it and lived it out.
Well, I have been doing quite a bit of pondering over the past year or two. Questions, doubts and curiosities that I have held for decades are bubbling to the surface of my mind and I have felt that I can’t write about them until I have it all sorted in nice tidy thoughts that have been proven.
I have just decided today to chuck out my stupid writing rule. Life with God and each other is full of questions, doubts and curiosities. If I stick with this rule then that rules out a whole bunch of interesting ponderings and hence, no emails to you.
So here is to my new writing rule — it’s okay to write about ideas, thoughts, things, doubts, questions and curiosities while I am still learning and discovering. It’s okay to share such writings in community to discuss and encourage.
Is that okay with you?
Sometimes we need to revisit our subconscious ‘rules’ and check in with ourselves. Is it still a good rule to have? Or should be chuck it out and create a new wineskin to hold our current lives in.
Ah, Jesus mentioned something along these lines….
“No one puts new wine into old wineskins. For the old skins would burst from the pressure, spilling the wine and ruining the skins. New wine is stored in new wineskins so that both are preserved. - Jesus (Matthew 9:17)
March for me was full of adventure as my husband and I celebrated 30 years of marriage with a 2 week trip around the bottom half of the South Island of NZ.
We saw mountains, waterfalls (so many waterfalls), stone churches, lakes, caves, beaches, light houses, crazy mosaic garden and castles.
It was full on. Only staying one or at the most two nights in any one place.
Whew!
I realised that my personality doesn’t do spontaneous travelling that well. It was exhausting but exhilarating at the same time.
In the coming episodes I will be opening up about my ponderings, doubts and questions to you, my community. You are very welcome to join me on this new journey with your closely held questions and doubts.
Join in the discussion in the comments below. Are there any ‘rules’ that you need to chuck out and start afresh? Have you gone on any travel adventures and learned something new about yourself?

I was so happy to get you emai again. I think we do a disservice to others when we don't share our doubts along our journey. When we only write about the accomplishments, the world begins to believe we think we are all perfect and have it all together. It is an encouragement to me to know others carry doubts and can be tripped up as we all navigate our walk with the Lord.
